3:1

I love the idea of all the cute weekend recaps I see on...what's it called?  This here inter-web?  Yeah.  Inter-web.  I think my rendition of it will be my own High and Low of the Weekend.  But this time (and hopefully every time I do this) the highs greatly outweigh the lows.

High(s):
Friday night.  What I had intended the night to be was inviting some of my Denver favorites over to Penn St. to assist in ending my stay there on a high note, turned into Jaime, Ryan, Ashley, Mary and I cracking a bottle of champers (and maybe a beer or 8), two pizza's and laughing to the point of tears on my (new!) kitchen floor.  My aunt worded it perfectly when she said it wasn't so important that I needed to say goodbye to the old place, but hello to my new one.  And the perfect hello we had.  : )
Saturday afternoon.  Among the pure chaos of moving up appx 35 stairs, living on the corner of two one-way streets (so finding a place to park the vehicles we were unpacking was less than ideal) and JAMMING my sofa up the stairs...I had to run to the hardware store.  On my way back home I was at the light right next to my apt, and seeing my boss's (huge and manly) truck parked UP on the sidewalk and all my amazing and motivated movers scurrying around and unpacking the truck was so moving watching them all there helping ME.  It was one of the greater warm fuzzies I will probably ever experience.
Sunday night.  I had committed to taking Jaime and Ryan's Save the Date photos in downtown Denver.  I can't express how much silly, lighthearted and genuine fun the three of us have together.  Also, the love that I was able to capture between the two of them was so moving and inspiring to me.  After we took the photos, Team Amazing Race headed back to their house, enjoyed a (2) bottle(s) of wine while cooking chorizo & sweet potato enchiladas (highly, HIGHLY recommend this recipe!  We used Ryan's grandmother's famous homemade enchilada sauce, but otherwise we followed the recipe to a T!).  We laughed, we danced, we goofed around and it was THE perfect ending to a rather long and exhausting weekend.

Low:
Saturday evening.  Cleaning and my final goodbye to my Pennsylvania St. apartment.  It wasn't so much that I wanted to hurry out of that place and close the door to the memories I made there, but I was that much more excited to get to my NEW home and start making the memories here.

So a 3 to 1 ratio isn't bad, is it?!  I don't think so.  Glad you agree.  : )

We made it!

After 4 hours of loading and unloading, 3 SUV's, one truck, one small trailer (all which were parked up ON the sidewalk at one point), 9 bodies, 12 breakfast burritos, one failed moved sofa (RIP), one hole in the ceiling, a deconstructed box spring, one very confused and temporarily pissed off cat and his exhausted mother....we finally made it!

Hey Mr. Grumpygills...

I need to take a page out of Dory's book:

For anyone who was wondering...

...Forks did NOT pick up on the whole "Pay it forward" idea - clearly he does not read my blog. But it was 5am vs 2am, which for some reason didn't upset me nearly as much.

And in case anyone else was wondering - my hair is held up with a pencil today. I found it mixed in one of my bathroom drawers and it was the simplest, most appealing option for a hairstyle this morning after 2 straight nights of being up packing past midnight. That kind of scares me for what tomorrow's hairstyle will look like. Good thing I already packed my shower cap.

Pay it forward.

I was overwhelmed with nice people today.  How often can one say that?  Giving parents.  Kind landlords.    Understanding garage managers { who understand the hassle of moving and the inconvenience of losing your $75 garage badge in (hopefully) one of the 349 boxes in your apt., and who understand it just MIGHT turn up over the weekend and kindly give you 5 free Get Out Of Free Parking Garage Jail Cards instead of paying $6/day while waiting for it to turn up } Loving friends who cancel their nightly workout to grab a bite and giggle with you after an especially trying day.

I need to start paying it forward.  I think I'll start with cracking Forks' favorite window tonight for him to breathe in the crisp, fresh Spring air and flirt with the cute girlie alley cats.  Maybe he'll pay it forward by NOT waking me up by kicking around his favorite bell ball at 2am.

American Idle.

I'm 110% judging myself for how excited I am that American Idol is finally live tonight - raise the roof!  I blame one sole person for this addiction: Everett Jonathan Graff.  See, Jon lives and breathes for Idol.  I'm going to sell Jon out here for a second: The man has 3 Idol magnets on his fridge.  He moved to CA about 4 months ago, and I haven't even seen his new fridge - but I know he had 3 in CO, and I know those 3 made the move.  Secret?  When I first moved here, and Graff would invite me over twice weekly (Tuesday for the performances, Wednesday for the results) for Idol, I went strictly for the social aspect.  Good food, great drinks and even better company - I didn't really even like the show!  But now?  I'm like a kid in a candy store knowing the auditions are over and it's Live from here until the end of the season.

A few of my favorite past season moments:
Caw! Caw!  Fact: I was the only one I knew who liked (loved) Megan.  My friends would get so annoyed at me because they thought I liked her strictly out of spite.  Fact: My friends HATED Megan.
Who can forget this gem?  Fact: I kept this in my DVR for the better part of 5 months, and would watch it over, and over and overandoverandoverandover again.
Le sigh.  Fact: I echo every sentiment I said about the above video.  Fact: I even have the judge's commentary down pact.
These two.  Fact: I still secretly hope they get back together, and I've never met them!...and never will meet them.

But my #1 favorite .  The man who has my heart.  Mr. Kris Allen .  Fact: I saw him live about 4 months ago!  I wouldn't let anyone speak to me while he was performing.  Beth + Kris = Love.  Fact:   I didn't speak to my friend Shannon for a few days after the Idol finale where Kris beat out Adam because she was (and still is) a huge ginormous, over the top, die hard Adam Lambert fan. Never to worry - Shan Pizzy Bambert Stephanie and I have worked out our differences and have realized our hearts belong with different men, and that's okay.  Fact: I once text Shannon 30 times in one night strictly about my feedback to Idol performances.

But my favorite thing?  Idle and idol are the same word.  So pull up a chair, your favorite drink, order in Thai and remain idle while watching Idol.

Jonny - I dedicate this post to you!  You are the single biggest and most painful pain in my ass, but there is no way I could love you more.  Come home soon!

One last thing, then I'll let this topic go for the night.  My favorite American Idol + Jon Graff story:
We would often order in the night of Idol mostly because everyone would get off work, but ass to get their workout in for the night, then go straight to Jon's sweaty and Idol hungry.  We ordered in Thai one night, and Jon was so twiterpated about missing the first few minutes Idol and the food getting there, he mistakenly tipped the delivery man $40!  FORTY DOLLARS!?!?!!!  Forty dollars.  $40 for a less than $20 meal.

Out of the {packing} box post.

I've realized how overwhelmingly many posts lately have been about moving, so I'm about to switch it up! For now anyway. I can't promise what I'll feel like blogging about in the next 15 minutes.

Since living in Denver, I've gotten obnoxiously close with my coworker Jaime and her handsome boyfriend (of 9 years) Ryan. (Can you say High School Sweethearts?!) We make it a point to cook dinner once a week, have our own Team AR, and I've been known to email/text with Ryan all day everyday with mindless banter. Needless to say I was beyond thrilled when they got engaged in October! And further, I was beyond honored when they asked me to be one of 3 bridesmaids in their wedding this September. These two and their beautiful families have opened up their homes to me on numerous occasions - I really do claim them all as my own. Below are some sneak peeks into what I know will be one of the moat breathtaking and beautiful weddings I've ever attended!
