Not the same as a dream...

but still funny:

An IM from my girlfriend Amy from work:

What are you doing now? I seriously woke up singing "climb every mountain" in my dream this morning. I instantly thought of you. What a great way to start the day!!

The Nerve.

Can you believe this? I ordered sushi delivery last night…and the dude delivering it has the audacity to come inside and eat it with me. Not just that – but he also brought a bottle of wine and started playing with Forks like he ran the place.

Buttttt. He was pretty cute so I let him stay. The best part is I didn't even ask for the sushi but BAM he showed up on my doorstep with it! Score one for Beth.

It’s a good thing you can’t see too clearly the letters I drew on our wine glasses. Hunter’s H turned out fine…but my B looked like a dyslexic 3 year old wrote it. No offense if any dyslexic 3 year olds are reading this – but a 26 year old Graphic Designer should do better than what Hunter explained as “it kiiiinda looks like a dollar sign”.

Enough talk about my chalkboard skillz.

What’s everyone doing for the New Year?! We are taking off just as quickly as I can get out of work and escaping to Steamboat for the weekend! Steamboat is where he grew up, so I’m excited to check out all his favorite hot spots. His dad will still be there tonight when we get in, so we’ll get to grab dinner with him. We’ll be skiing a lot of Saturday and Sunday, and there is a strong possibility that we will go sledding. Hunter has been begging me to go sledding with him for like 2 months now, so I’m finally giving in. (That’s not true. I’ve been doing the begging, it’s just easier to push off the obsession with the hobby of said 3 year old on him.) We plan on cooking some yummy dinners, enjoying the hot tub and watching the Broncos game! OH! I TOTALLY FORGOT THE BEST PART! My sweet friends Heather and Tom who live up in Fort Collins are magically and randomly going to be in Steamboat this weekend, too! I screamed and possibly peed a little bit when I heard that (No peeing happened. Strictly screaming. I promise.) – I have been wanting to get together with these two for weeks now because I just know Tom and Hunter will get along like peas and carrots. Every hobby Hunter has…Tom has. Well maybe not EVERY hobby, but the cool ones: Beer brewing, skiing, biking, hiking. And hanging out with supa cool chicks. Right, Heather?

Can you tell I’ve had about 3x my limit of coffee this morning? I’m rambling.

Happy 2012 fun friends!

British basketball.

I’ve had two pretty similar emails from two friends of two different walks of life lately – they both make me smile from ear to ear!

My dearest friend Alexis who just moved from Fargo to Wheaton, MN!:

I’ve been having super weird dreams lately and I had one about your last night. I was flying to Denver super last min and I was struggling to find tickets to come to your wedding. It was a very very odd series of events. We all met at this bar where we played basketball on a basketball court.

If I flew out of Fargo I would spend $247 on tickets and if I flew out of the cities I would spend $227 on tickets. It was a huge debate on which city to fly out of, but the funny part is I don’t remember which one I chose or actually being on the plane. I was just all of a sudden there at the table at the bar getting ready to play basketball.

Super strange!!!

And my sweet friend Lesli who lives in Ft. Collins:

I just wanted to let you know that I had a dream you were in last night. We were driving around in this really fun car that you had to stand in and stick your head out the top. You were driving and for some reason had a British accent. We were driving all over this grassy area and having fun. That’s it… :)

Chills.

Do as little harm to others as you can; make any sacrifice for your true friends; be responsible for yourself and ask nothing of others; and grab all the fun you can. Don’t give much thought to yesterday, don’t worry about tomorrow, live in the moment, and trust that your existence has meaning even when the world seems to be all blind chance and chaos. When life lands a hammer blow in your face, do your best to respond to the hammer as if it had been a cream pie. Sometimes black humor is the only kind we can summon, but even dark laughter can sustain.

Raindrops on roses...

A few of my favorite things as of late:

My mom's smile. My heart is always so full when I get to spend time with her!

A purring kitty in a Santa hat. Enough said.

A sweet sweat workout when my head and body both match up to push through.

A new manicure! Glitzy and glam for the new year.

Christmas gifts that come in the mail from my favorite Eric! <3

Family time. Family laughs. Family memories. I'm so blessed!

Fruit plates as an afternoon snack. Done and done.

His and her Whole Foods salads. I can't believe I've found someone who loves veggies MORE than I do.

I'm addicted to these guys! Fresh from CA.

Redonkously silly roommates. Always smiling those two.

Ramble on :: take 2.

Ramblings of a Monday Morning.

Three more sleeps until I head to CA for Christmas!!!

Three more sleeps until I have to finish up my family’s Christmas shopping. Oy.

I don’t know why, or what it is – but white towels instantly put me in a better mode. I luff them.

Thinking back on it, I can’t help but laugh out loud thinking how I packed a curling iron + hair straightner this past weekend. I think there was maybe 25 minutes total where I wasn’t wearing Hunter’s grey beanie. Now I know for next time.

It’s snowing!!!!!

I love when my boss says “Just get one of our P-Cards and go buy a few Photoshop Plug In’s. It’ll be expensive…but you’ll love them.”

Every single Holiday season since I graduated High School I have traveled a very long distance for Christmas. Either 4.5 hours driving in poor weather, or flying to a different state. Both which usually includes a serious amount of packing, driving in snow (even to DIA, 30 minutes is too many minutes to put up with) and usually a large amount of stress for making sure I get to my destination on time and safely. I know not to wish my life away, and I love traveling to see my family, but a teeny tiny part of me longs for waking up in my own house, and having people come to me. Maybe someday. : )

I really am digging my hair today, thanks to Mary and the best Christmas gift ever…..a curling WAND!

If anyone happens to know the combination to my storage unit downstairs, I’d really appreciate if you could send it my way. For the LIFE of me I can’t remember what it is…nor can I find the little sticker that has it on there. Darn. Darn. Darn.

I get to see my grandma over Christmas!! Granted I just saw her in October, but there is something super magical about Christmas with my grandma.

Hunter and I are going on our first ever double date tonight! Technically it’s my first double date ever, but I’m extra excited to spend it with two of our favorite people, Jaime and Ryan!

James and I had the most heavily lunch at Tony's Meat Market over lunch. It was so fun to just sit and have girl talk for a while, too!

I’m sure I could come up with more, but I won’t bore you with what color towels I prefer to use. However, I’d love to be bored by your ramblings!! Feel free to dump some in my comments section if you so chose. If not, enjoy your Monday friends!

Lies.

All lies.

There is no possible way it's only 6:44pm. It's gotta be at least 11pm, right? Right. Right. We are still like 40 min from Denver and I'm already giving myself a prep talk for cleaning my apt when I get home vs dropping dead on my bed watching WAG. I've got a list of a dozen things I want to blog and remember from this weekend, but that'll have to wait for tomorrow.
Not sure you can see it in this pix, but there is a Golf score card hanging out of Hunter's CD player. It also may say "Beth: Winner, winner, chicken dinner!" on it. I like to keep my opponents reminded of my awesome card game winning abilities.

My week rocks.

Has your week rocked? I can safely say, my week has rocked. Aside from some iffy days at work, my holiday parties and besties have totally just killed it this week.

Started the week off right fireside playing board games with my bestie, my boyfriend and my boyfriend’s bestie.

Enjoying the decorations up in my nook of my apartment building.

Killed it at the gym, and constantly reminding myself to workout with intention, not just to go through the motions.

Had a sweet boy cook me a k-i-l-l-e-r dinner while I got to relax and get my Christmas gifts wrapped.

Morning surprises.

Spending the nights sipping, giggling and creating the funniest and best memories with people I love the most.

The best part? The week isn’t even over! H-Dawg and I leave at 5:01pm tonight to spend the weekend cut off from society, by the fire sipping whatever we want to be sipping, playing in the snow, cooking for his family and what I’m guessing to be lots of card games, and hours spend crocheting working on my blanket.

Happy weekend, everyone! What about your week rocked?!

Words to live by.

My B F’ing F (that’s right, I dropped the F bomb. It’s my blog – I can do what I want.) send me this link today, and I can’t stop reading it. (Thanks, Mar!) Such an awesome reminder just in general, but especially during this crazed holiday season.

Ramble on.

Ramblings of a Monday Morning.

My hair has been styled the exact same way since Saturday morning. Even while sleeping, it stays pinned twisted back/low bun. Hunter has encouraged me not to redo it in the mornings, but I know it’s just a ploy to get me to walk around with bed head.

My heart is sad that I missed my BFF/cousin/may-as-well-be-sisters bridal shower this weekend! I ca-n-not WAIT for her wedding in February!

I had justified it to myself as to why I deserved a breakfast burrito from the little café in our work building this morning, but the SOB is closed until Wednesday! W.T.F.

I need to remind myself to sneak in a glass of water in between cups of coffee or else come 11am I have the coffee shakes, and a grueling headache.

I’m minutes away from writing my To Do list for the week…and this one I NEEEEEEEEEEEED to stick to. No if’s, and’s or butt’s about it.

GO BRONCOS!!!

I have quite a few gifts on their way from online shopping, and I’m a little anxious on when they will actually arrive.

Hunter and I leave Friday night for a quick weekend getaway and it’s the only thing that’s gotten me through these first 3 hours of work.

Home Alone needs to find its way to my DVD player, and soon. I’ve had a serious craving to watch it for weeks now!

I’m growing to learn I have an unhealthy relationship with BWW. I could eat them morning, noon and night. For realz.

10 more sleeps until I’m in CA! Whoopie whoop.

Nerd Alert: I can’t stop thinking up new ways to wrap my Christmas gifts this year. I wish I could take a day off and hunker down with coffee (and water!), Home Alone and all my crafting supplies needed for a successful gift wrap session.

Mary Ida is to thank for my latest Bing Crosby Christmas music obsession.

I luff my friends.

It’s fun to think when this week my coworkers will actually push me out the window in annoyance of 8 straight hours of Christmas music playing from my computer.

Hunter and I have big, BIG sledding plans this weekend! I could pee I'm so excited. I can't believe I've met someone who loves playing in snow more than me.

Feel like rambling, too? Take full advantage of my comments section!

iPhone? What's that?

Sometimes the best of nights don’t involve a tv, a cell phone, or really any electronics of any sort. And last night was one of those nights.

I had a more crazed day at work than expected, and had to run around town after work, home to pack and get ready for a shoot, so by the time I got to Hunter’s I looked like the crazy bag lady with 3 bags hanging off me, a 6 pack of empty beer bottles and a headache the size of Texas. I immediately just dumped all my bags in his room and paid no mind to them for the better part of 4 hours…and I was a-ok with that. He already had dinner finished: chicken + petso + basil + roasted garlic + roasted red pepper + kalamata olives & caper pasta with fresh baked bread. I think I told him 3,982 how absolutely amazing it was. He also happened to pick up a fresh growler of my favorite Fat Tire beer, 1554, when he stopped through Ft. Collins on his way home from Wyoming yesterday. It’s pretty safe to say I really didn’t have a care in the world. After that we played a few rounds of our (read: my) favorite card game, Golf and introduced his roommate to it, too. Lots of laughing. Lots of yelling. Lots of fun.

I could have taken pictures of my cute boyfriend cooking in his pj’s, or the growler of beer. The delightful dinner. Hunter and Mark picking on each other while playing cards….but honestly? It was the furthest thing from my mind last night and just felt good to be present and in the moment. I think I’ll have a lot more nights like those from now on…

Five.

5 things I'm thankful for on 12.8.11.

{1} A text from my cousin at 6:45am on the dot. The exact time we agreed we'd wake up this morning.
{2} Favorite coffee in my favorite mug.
{3} Forks kicking around his bell ball on my hardwoods as to remind me I can't fall back asleep.
{4} My hair that started out a disaster to curl, but grew to be pretty darn pleased with the end result.
{5} Pandora.

What are your 5's today??

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

Last night was one of my fa-vorite Christmas traditions with my gay boys.

Tree decorating.

It's so fun doing this with my boys because Jon has a story behind EVERY ornament. No lie. Every. Ornament. Which can make for a long tree decorating experience, but so worth it.

Cuddles and giggles with these people rank a solid 9.9 out of 10 on my fun and awesome scale.

Ornaments were hung with care,

Drinks were poured, and dinner was served as a break from the lights and ornaments. (I think Chris and I hung 9 strands of lights...I lost count. So a break was much needed and appreciated.)

And per usual, I called dibs on my most favorite ornaments when Jon doesn't need them anymore. My #1 favorite:

It was a magical night and perfect end to the weekend!

It makes my heart so warm and happy knowing that my two sista's from anotha mista (and one of their actual sister's) are home on a Saturday night doing the exact same thing I am.

BFF fo life.

My sweet Jon had surgery yesterday, and even though I know he's a grown ass man who can take care of himself, my mother's caretaker gene kicked in and I just had to swoop in to take care of him.

About 2 years ago Jon had a really awful bike accident and needed surgery on his hand. The morning of the surgery he called and left me this message:
"JUST as a reminder, I am going into surgery in 2 hours. As another reminder.....TODAY, I am the victim!!!!! And I WANT LEMON CUPCAKES!!!!"

No lie. A (at the time) 48 year old man was pitching a fit and demanding lemon cupcakes. Of course being the stubborn biotch I am, I took him to Benny's instead, but I bet you I've been reminded no shy of 3 dozen times since then how he didn't get lemon cupcakes.

So today? He got lemon cupcakes.

I'm not a baker and won't claim to be, but these cupcakes were da bomb. Though the thought of buying 2 lemon cupcakes from a local baker, or buying a lemon cake box crossed my mind, I ended up following this recipe and was so pleased with the end result. Jon even said "Buff, these are THE best lemon cupcakes I've ever had." It could have been the pain meds talking, or they really were that good. I'm going with the latter.

Moral of the story? Friends kick major a, and I always walk away feeling more fulfilled after helping them out.

So? Go help a BFF fo life, yes? Until then....try your hand in baking. You never know what amazeballs cupcakes will come of it!
